The End of English Football Glory Days?

“Goal,” The New York Times’ soccer blog, argues that that “the sun has set” on English football in light of the country’s dismal failure  to qualify for the  Euro 2008 championship. Goal goes on to offer a scathing crticism of Fox Soccer Channel in the US for its Englishness and devotion to the Barclay’s Premier League above coverage of other football leagues, especially America’s Major League Soccer (MLS).

We had so much fun with the site that we kept posting to it for the rest of year, lopng after the World Cup finals had ended. We’ve archived that site, the original Soccer Football Massive blog, on the web. Hells to the yeah, please enjoy.

A lackluster FC Bareclona played relegation-zone upstarts Valladolid to a 1-1 draw. Barca’s defending was shockingly fragile. Valladolid could have won this match — tye certainly created lots of chances to find the back of the Barelona net a second time. To think, just two season ago, Valladolid were a tird division club i Spain! Worth noting that Thierry Henry did not play, nor did Eto’o.
